Maelene is excellent! I have had the pleasure of working with her twice. Once as a bridesmaid in my sister's wedding and then for my own wedding. She is very responsive to any questions or concerns you have. She also takes the time to ask questions about the family relationships before the wedding. She takes a variety of candids and posed shots. My pictures turned out excellent and so did my sister's! I have already been recommending her to my friends.

We loved having Maelene as our photographer. She is so down to earth, which made you feel so comfortable. This led to all the photos being more natural and not so posed. She had great tips to help us woman with more to love hide our trouble spots. She also had such creative ideas for "hot shots". Take a look at her profile...shots on the water and jumping with orange dresses is from our wedding. Maelene made the day go smooth. She also helped with things she did not have to help with....Brad and I were clueless about the whole cake thing....Thanks Maelene!!!! We highly recommend Hot Shots Photography if you want to have great photo memories of your special day!!!

My husband and I LOVED Maelene!! She did an awesome job on our engagement and wedding photos. We had a fun time taking pictures before the wedding. She does every combination known to man and it doesn't take too long. She was fun and we were glad to have her at our wedding.

Absolutely loved the quality of pictures taken and was a great value for the price. Was my #1 pick after reviewing several photographers in the area.

Hi Maelene. First of all, I wanted to thank you for EVERYTHING you did for us to make our wedding & reception run so smooth. I donÂ’t know if we would have been able to do it without you! I viewed the pics online and OH MY GOSH! They turned out so good. Everyone that has viewed them online loved them!

The services provided far exceeded our wildest dreams. Maelene used her many years of experience and knowledge to guide us through our day with gentle suggestions and ideas on everything from the reception hall set up to how to hold our flowers. She was amazing and I cannot imagine the day without her. The photos were unique and creative and we can't wait for our proof books to arrive so we can start ordering. Everyone was very impressed and commented over and over on how professional she was and at the quality of the pictures. We cannot thank her and Hot Shots of Indiana enough!

Not only did she take pictures the whole day and evening, but she also helped me get ready and gave all of us advice on what to do about things like eye bags and how the veil should be put on! I felt like she was part of our family that day! I will always go back to her for photography needs!

This photographer has experience and the pictures were good...not great. Her personality we great and easy to work with...she helped with ideas on greating ready and tricks for the girls. For the money being spent there should have been more originality to the photos. I did not like how she took so many pictures of everyone else at the reception. Dont' get me wrong it is nice to have the memories of who was at the wedding but I did not spend the money to get pictures of everyone else. She should have been more focused on the bride and groom. She did not call and give me updates when we got closer to the wedding like she said she would. I had to call her to make sure she had everything she needed. That is the last thing a bride planning a wedding should have to do. It took about 9 weeks just to receive my proofs (should have been 5-6 weeks) and I am still waiting on cards to put in my thank yous. It has been over 3 months and I still havenÂ’t sent my thank yous out due to waiting on these inserts.

We have a credit from our wedding and that credit is to be used to order pictures (when we signed the contract, the price we paid also included this credit to purchase items after the wedding) and we cannot get ahold of the photographer to get our pictures that we already paid for. We have called email and emailed numerous times. We did speak to her once and she said we should get our order in 3-4 weeks...and that was almost 3 months ago. As of right now, we have no pictures of our wedding...we just have the small proofs. We are ready to take the photographer to small claims court because we do have a contract and that contract was not upheld by the photographer. I would advise NO ONE to go here.

Quality of service gets a disaster, we were married 9 months ago. We are still waiting on the half of our contract to be delivered to us including the coffee table album, including the several DVD slideshows that were supposed to be set to music. She quit respond to my emails, and started sending my phone calls directly to voicemail approximately 3 months ago. She has not tried to or been successful at contacting me at any one of my three email addresses, or two phone numbers, one being a cell, one being a house number both of which have answering services. Obviously for that reason also she gets a disaster for responsiveness. Professionalism gets a disaster as well because the day of the wedding she was quite late to getting to take photos of my bridesmaids and myself, also showed up in attire that lacked professionalism on her part, and her daughter (her assistant's) part as well. The daughter came dressed in black pants, and a bright orange JAIL zip up hoodie that was never removed. It was quite embarassing for my guests to be wondering who would show up in something like that. Value for cost gets a disaster as well because what would I value about the 1/2 of the contract I haven't received yet! Flexibility gets a 2 because she did agree with no problems to reschedule our wedding from October 18th, to November 22nd because I was in the hospital for two full weeks and the entire week of our wedding from complications due to having a surgery. She did not charge us extra to change the date, as long as the date that we picked, she still had open. Which was fair (the only thing being fair) in my opinion. Customer service and professionalism are seriously lacking here people, customers beware, as this is not something you should have to go through upon paying the photographer of one of the most important days of your lives...not to mention she was paid in full upon receipt of our proofs...which I will mention she made a spelling error on the proof image on all of our proofs of our last name. Mistakes happen but goes to show you how much she values her customers, upon asking her of this, she was quite rude informing me it was just a little spelling error, and that she would not be correcting it. She also never performed several of the edits that I requested of specific photos which is disappointing as well. Also, check around, as I am certainly not the only unsatisfied customer of this business, check out the better business bureau!!

Our wedding was on June 24, 2007. We have encountered nothing but problems with Maelene at Hot Shots Photography. When she took the photographs at the wedding she was extremely unpleasant and rude to myself, my wife, and my guests. It took her 6 months to even post the photos on the online photo gallery. When we were actually able to view the photos we were unimpressed. The photos showed no skill and were utterly uninspired. We also noticed that her camera had malfunctioned and all pictures taken from a distance were blurry on the right half. I had family order photos and it took them 4 months to receive them. It took me 6 months to get my proofs from her even after we had paid our bill in full. She gave us a credit, but then I had to use my credit in January of 2009 to buy the copyright to all of the pictures from her at the cost of $500. When I received the Master disk of pictures they all had ID marks on the bottom. In turn, we had to crop the bottom 1/2" off of the photos. The ID mark consisted of a large purple rectangle with a label that contains our last name spelled incorrectly and random numbers, on EVERY PICTURE. When we asked her for pictures without the ID marks she confessed that she had lost our original photos and had to download them from her online albums. At this point (845 days as of writing) we have yet to receive a coffee table album that was paid in full long ago. I asked for a refund and she refused. She now ignores every contact I make with her including phone calls and emails. This is an accurate representation of the service we received even after upgrading to the "Platinum" package. She has an "F" rating from the Better Business Bureau (don't take my word for it, look it up) and we have found many others who have had a similar experience. There is no reason that any professional photographer should lose photos due to a hard drive failure. That is completely unforgivable. Backups should be more important even than photography equipment as what good are the pictures if they are lost. If you don't have the know-how to set up backups/raid/etc. then hire a company who can.If you (the reader of this review) value your wedding day and the memories associated with it, please consider another photographer. If you message me I can suggest one, but I will not list another photographer in this review. I'm sure that Maelene will have her hands full coming up with a witty response to this review as it now stands. Perhaps a phone call would be easier? Or better yet, our coffee table albums.
